Training and Development
We can only continue to be successful by providing the infrastructure for our people to continuously develop their skills and knowledge in an environment of learning and development.
As you would expect Midas has the Investors in People accreditation, but at Midas Training and Development is much than just having the badge.
Substantial investment has been made over the last two years and continues to be made in ensuring that Midas offers individuals a wide range of training and development opportunities through our in house training establishment – ‘ The Academy’.
Our Training Strategy is set up to ensure that we offer all staff the option to embark on a range of both short and long term development initiatives. This strategy has been designed to help employees fulfill their full potential, whilst at the same time enabling Midas to develop the skills and knowledge to exceed the expectations of an ever demanding client base in an ever changing and competitive market.
In the last year our people have received an average of 3 days training, substantially above the industry average, whilst we have almost trebled the number of Training courses run over the last two years.
The development programmes run by the Group, split into a number of areas:
Welcome to Midas – the Induction programme that all employees undertaken upon joining the organization.
Foundation – a suite of hard skills; commercial, technical and Health & Safety for all members of staff, identified from a number of skills matrices.
Intermediate – a more diverse suite of softer management skills aimed at those individuals that have supervisory and or client facing roles, again set up from a skill matrix.
APEX – Midas’ Leadership Training and Business Acumen programme, accredited to ILM Level 7.
Whilst we have the structured training framework in place we do not expect our people to be shy about suggesting development opportunities that they feel will enhance their own performance and add value to Midas.
Our Performance Development Review process is aimed at identifying individual development needs with a view to setting up personal development plans for all employees, with a mixture of matrix based training and/or individually tailored development opportunities such as further education programmes, internal mentoring schemes or simply on the job experiential learning.
Don’t just our word for it though, here are some recent quotes from our recent employee survey, ‘People Matters’.
‘I feel the current training and personal development opportunities at Midas are delivered to an excellent standard and am more than happy that my career will progress well whilst I am here.’
‘Midas Academy has raised the level of professionalism in the company.’
‘The Midas training Academy gives the individual the opportunity for personal development if they so wish.’
‘The training provision offered is excellent’
Furthermore our Training has been recently recognized in a number of external quarters. Midas has been short listed for the Bristol Evening Post Business Awards – Best Training Policy category, as well as attracting the following comments.
