See Mi–space at Ecobuild, Earls Court 26–28 February 2008

Mi-space is proud to announce that we are part of the RuralZEDTM consortium. Our selection is partly a result of the success of the Jubilee Wharf Project that was built with Bill Dunster's team of Architects in 2006, as well as our commitment to sustainable construction along with that of the wider Midas Group.

The RuralZEDTM house is an innovative timber framed kit house which combines the speed and quality of Modern Methods of Construction with the benefits of heavy weight thermally massive construction at an affordable price. From single storey to multi storey the flexibility and simplicity of this high performance building fabric makes variations on internal space and external appearance easy. In addition to a bright healthy indoor environment the RuralZEDTMconcept has fully integrated renewable micro-generation technology (and upgrade path) from a Code Level 4 dwelling to a Zero Carbon Code Level 6. The system is ideal for the volume builder or self builder who wants to help stop global warming and build a sustainable healthy future.

Our intention is to offer the basic Code Level 4 home to the RSL sector at a highly competitive price that exceeds the 2008 mandatory code for sustainable homes Code Level 3 target, with the potential to upgrade to Code 6 in the future. We understand the pricing pressures that the sector currently faces where sustainable construction is concerned and think that the RuralZEDTM product is a viable solution.

Andrew Johnston (Director Mi-space) says: "The RuralZEDTM house has had some of the best minds in the industry invest four years of research and development into it in  the shape of Bill Dunster's Design Team. This house is designed with the Code for Sustainable Homes specifically in mind, and our job at Mi-space is to deliver it at an affordable price to the sector that needs it most right now. We have the team to do it at Mi-space, and we are sure that the leading Housing Associations in England and Wales will invest in this product. "

The RuralZEDTM house is being launched as the centrepiece of the EcoBuild exhibition at Earls Court 26-28th February 2008. Come and see it in the flesh, it could just be the shape of housing to come!
