MI–SPACE SUPPORT EMPLOYEE IN THE TRANSWALES BIKE RACE

During the working week he is a Business Development Manager for Mi-Space, part of the Midas Group, at the weekends he is a daredevil cyclist who is taking part in the Transwales Bike Race this weekend.
Lex Cumber will take part in the race starting on Sunday 16 August which will last for seven days. In total he will be racing for about 380 miles and will climb a total of approximately 15.500m, which is about 15 times the height of Mount Snowdon!
This is the second year that Lex has taken part and Midas and Mi-space are supporting him in raising funds for the housing charity Shelter. Lex is the first participant in the race to raise monies for a charity.
Throughout the seven day race; which starts and finishes in Builth Wells in Wales, Lex is expecting to burn about 6,000 calories a day alongside his fellow racers from places such as Italy, Hong Kong, Scandinavia and South Africa.
Endurance events or mountain bike marathons have been around in the UK now for more than half a decade and have turned the scene and the industry around. What used to be a sport for just a few ‘race horses' is now a regular event happening throughout the UK. They also offer the chance to get away from it all, relax and have fun.
For 2008 the TransUK events are going back to the course in Wales for the 2nd issue of the TransWales - seven day long Mountain Bike stage challenge. The event is a mixture of linking stages and special stages and can be tackled in either pairs or as solo riders. Not just endurance but also tactics, the right equipment and an ability to pace yourself will be key to enjoying as well as to winning this event.
