Project: A development consisting of 36 flats and a community space being built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 for Magna Housing Association.

Mi-space were selected as the main contractor for this project due to their knowledge of the Code, adding value through the local supply chain and significant value engineering input. Mi-space's in-house Code Assessors saw the opportunity to raise the CSH standards from Code 3 to Code 4 with minimal increase in cost. We worked alongside Boon and Brown Architects on a detailed value engineering exercises to deliver not only this increase in sustainability standards, but maximum added value for the client teams in terms of useable space, whole life costing and community engagement.

The scheme required detailed co-ordination by Magna Housing Association and Taunton Deane Borough Council due to the demolition of existing units on the site and the subsequent decant of elderly residents. This element was dealt with in a sensitive manner and the scheme was delayed by 12 months. Mi-space's planned maintenance team, (on a long term framework with TDBC) worked with the councils housing team to identify and refurbish void properties to allow the decant process to accelerate and the scheme to progress.
