Cornwall affordable housing contract for Mi–space

( Last Updated: 09-03-2011 )

Mi-space, the affordable housing company of the Midas Group, has been awarded a contract to build 25 affordable homes on a council-owned site at Marazion near Penzance, Cornwall.

The £2.7 million contract has been awarded by the Guinness Trust and involves the design and build of nine three-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom homes on land north of Trevenner Lane, Marazian.

Andrew Johnston, Executive Director of Mi-space said: "We have a great deal of experience in building affordable housing schemes across the South West of England and Wales and have recently completed several projects in Cornwall.

"Working alongside the community is an important element in the way Mi-space operates on site. It is our policy to keep local residents informed of progress as the project develops so that any disruption to normal life is minimised.  The project will be managed from our office in Indian Queens, Cornwall."

Work commenced on the Trevenner Lane scheme in February and is expected to take around 12 months to practical completion.

Mi-space has recently been awarded a £35 million contract to build 260 homes for service families on behalf of the Defence Estates at Bulford Camp on Salisbury Plain.  Other notable current projects include Swansea's £23 million Urban Village regeneration project, a £3.7 million homeless refuge in Plymouth, a £6.7 million affordable housing complex at Barry, South Wales and a £10 million residential development at Firepool Lock in Taunton Somerset.
